Meet our new pastor

Our new pastor will be the Rev. Ross Baker.

Rita Jones, chair of Staff-Parish Relations, said that effective July 1, Pastor Ross will serve Edgerton and Eudora UMCs in a 3/4-time appointment. He is now pastor of the Eudora and North Lawrence (Centenary) congregations.

Pastor Ross is shown in the photo at right with his wife, the Rev. Amanda Baker (who is pastor of Baldwin First UMC and soon also will be pastor of Ives Chapel UMC in Baldwin), and their three boys. From left they are Charles (9), William (7) and James (12).

Beginning Sunday, July 4, our new worship time will be 10:30 am. We will meet in fellowship hall in July and August, and Michael Stevenson will be our musical worship leader.

Our last Sunday with Judy Sass will be June 20. Because her primary Sunday worship obligation is to Open Table Community Church in Wellsville (which worships at 10:30), she will no longer be able to lead our singing after July 1. We will greatly miss her and husband Dale.

Because July 4 is on a holiday weekend, we’ll delay a welcome lunch for Pastor Ross until July 11, immediately following worship. Please join us in welcoming the Baker family to our church family! There are three boys in the family; they generally alternate worshipping with mom or dad, so we’ll get to see them frequently.

We also owe a deep debt of gratitude to Rev. Jim Hopwood for carrying us through so much of our church life. Jim has been a constant source of strength and leadership for us. We will honor Jim with a brunch on Sunday June 13, immediately following worship.  Please join us in thanking Jim for everything he has done for us!

Jim adds: Please, no gifts beyond that of your presence and a hug.
